There has been a surge of speculation, disinformation, and misinformation spreading across social media and mainstream media regarding the paternity claims of Rymir Satterthwait and Roc Nation founder Shawn Corey Carter, known publicly as Jay-Z. Various media accounts and online personalities have been accused of pushing false narratives to sway public opinion, while claims of Roc Nation’s powerful influence continue to circulate as people witness real-time disinformation. Similar scrutiny has fallen on Roc Nation’s CEO, Desiree Perez, especially after a lawsuit was filed by her own daughter which helped bring the paternity case back into the headlines.

Many Americans were shocked to learn that Perez, now the CEO of a global entertainment powerhouse, was once a major drug dealer turned government informant. Unlike the traditional corporate path that involves years of education and executive grooming, Perez’s rise has been far from conventional. Allegations from her daughter—ranging from false imprisonment to harassment and intimidation—have triggered deeper public scrutiny into Roc Nation’s operations, raising questions about the company’s power and tactics.

This renewed spotlight has also resurfaced long-standing allegations against Jay-Z himself. A woman has claimed that Shawn Carter had sexual relations with her when she was underage, resulting in the conception of her son, Rymir Satterthwait.

Rymir’s mother, Wanda Satterthwait, submitted official document statements on two separate occasions that she believes Jay-Z is the father of her son. To eliminate other possibilities, Wanda had the only other potential father, Robert Graves, take a DNA test—which conclusively ruled him out.

On June 10, 2010, Wanda filed an official statement asserting that Jay-Z is Rymir’s father. A notarized DNA report from March 16, 2011, confirmed that Graves had a 0% chance of being the father. Based on Wanda’s sworn statements, the only remaining candidate is Jay-Z—a claim that carries serious implications, as Wanda would have been just 15 or 16 years old at the time. This would constitute statutory rape if proven true.

A simple DNA test could resolve this once and for all—either clearing Jay-Z of these allegations or confirming paternity. Yet, the refusal to take such a test has fueled public suspicion, particularly given Jay-Zs past associations with controversial figures like R. Kelly and Diddy, both of whom have faced intense scrutiny for sexual misconduct.

According to Rymir and his godmother, Dr. Lillie Collie, the family has faced harassment and intimidation while pursuing the paternity case. They allege that Rymir’s car was shot at, he was harassed late at night, and even had a gun planted in his vehicle moments before police arrived. The Satterthwait family claims these tactics are part of an effort to avoid addressing the paternity issue directly.

Despite the controversy, Rymir has publicly stated that he is not seeking financial compensation beyond damages caused by years of pursuing this case. His goal is simple, to uncover the truth about his lineage so that he and his family can have closure.
